In Brazil at the age of 57 years died Socrates


Former Brazilian national team soccer player Socrates died at a clinic in Sao Paulo on Sunday night at the age of 57 years. Socrates was hospitalized in intensive care with food poisoning on Friday. Death was due to septic shock, which occurs when the infection reaches the bloodstream and spreads throughout the body.

Note soccer star was hospitalized twice in August and September this year with bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. He later confessed that during the life of his problems with alcohol.

Socrates distinguished by the ability to hit a penalty shot with no running start. In 1999 he took the 63rd place in the list of the greatest players of the XX century according to a poll of readers of the journal World Soccer. Pele included Socrates in the number of 125 greatest living footballers in 2004.
